ChatGPT presentation at the Budapest Bar Association
On 14 September 2023, a lecture entitled ChatGPT - the basics of using language processing tools in legal practice was held. The lecture dealt with an innovative topic, which has been of great interest worldwide since the general public became aware of this form of artificial intelligence (AI) in November last year.
The lecture was jointly organised by the Budapest Bar Association and Wolters Kluwer Hungary
The Section has previously organised similar workshops on topical issues (e.g. labour law, compliance) with the publisher, but this time the event was also open to lawyers, thus facilitating the professional networking opportunities provided by the integration.
The event was opened by Dr. Cecília Pólik, Secretary of the Section, followed by Dr. Tibor Firtkó, member of the IT Committee of the BÜK, who spoke about the professional importance of the topic, the challenges facing the legal profession and the possible applications of artificial intelligence.
In his presentation, Dr. Péter Homoki, attorney-at-law, described in detail the historical background of the topic and where we are now. In connection with the topic, Dr. Anna Fülöp, Editorial Director of Wolters Kluwer Hungary, presented two of the AI-based solutions already available on the Law Library, which are related to the development of anonymised court decisions (hierarchical case management system and BHGY extracts). He said that as a LegalTech company, their goal is to develop new and innovative solutions to help lawyers in their work - to this end, they are constantly experimenting and developing new technologies..
